Today I am reviewing a new B.B. Cream I spotted at the drugstore! It's the N.Y.C. New York Color BB Creme 5 in 1 Smooth Skin Instant Matte. Usually, I tend to shy away from BB Creme's or as I like to call them: glorified tinted moisturizers. I am a full coverage foundation kind of girl. There isn't a part of me that wants my red marks to show through - it seems so "half done" to me. I decided to give this little guy a try because the packaging was cute and what did I have to lose for only $3.99? According to the N.Y.C. Website this only comes in two colors: Light and Medium.
I did film a First Impression video but when I played it back I wasn't happy with the way it came out (literally hate when that happens - wah), so I nixed it in hopes that this blog post will suffice for my thoughts!
I never expect a B.B. Cream to full coverage so I didn't put this on thinking "yes! this is going to cover ALL my flat red marks!" The coverage is light but two coats gave my skin a really smooth finish! Considering this B.B. Cream touts "smooth skin" - I was pleasantly surprised to find it did! This also claims to instantly mattify your skin - I definitely saw that. While the product has no shimmer, I do feel like it gave me a nice sheen. As far as wear, this did keep my oily skin at bay! I kept looking at my skin in the mirror at work for any signs of shine. The lasting power was just okay. I went out to dinner, came home at about 10:30PM and my skin wasn't looking too fab. My red marks were showing through, it was getting patchy and I was turning into a pumpkin. I can't fault the product though - a B.B. Cream on my skin after 12 hours of wear? Not too shabby.
I will definitely wear this for my work days when I don't want to look too made up and on a good skin day. The finish is definitely more natural but I was pleased with it for a lightweight foundation. As with all B.B. Creams, this will look awesome if you have flawless, redness free skin. :)
I also picked up the N.Y.C. Smooth skin B.B. Radiance Perfecting Powder. This only comes in two colors as well: Naturally Beige and Warm Beige. Totally not sure why they didn't make a lighter color! I kept looking around but I could only find those two colors. When I swatched this powder on my hand, it felt SO smooth and creamy! This is a matte powder that was next to the B.B. Creme Instant Matte in the display so I wanted to use them together. I applied this over the B.B. Creme and I found it mattified my skin and gave an overall nice finish! I'm sure you could also wear this as a stand alone foundation.
